THE MAKING OF THE MODEL

A real landscape.
A first study.

Terrain uses Mapzen elevation tiles from AWS Open Data. Buildings and major roads use OpenStreetMap geometry, downloaded for this local model.

Building heights use mapped height or level tags where available, otherwise an estimated 9 m. Relief starts at 2× for legibility; choose 1× for true vertical scale. Building heights retain their proportions as terrain relief changes. This is an exploratory model, not a survey or a complete digital twin.

Ten custom landmark models are stylised exterior studies with approximate dimensions and locations. Model studio uses undistorted proportions; island buildings retain undistorted proportions on the exaggerated terrain. Generic building footprints near these landmarks are replaced by custom geometry.

Terrain resolution is approximately 75 m. Coastlines are inferred from elevation and may omit flat reclaimed land. Building coverage depends on OpenStreetMap.
